Addressing residents of Rukubi  after the killing by gunmen at  Akpanaja, he appealed to families that lost their loved ones to be calm and avoid acts that could undermine the peace being enjoyed in the area.

Noting that no injustice done to man by another man goes unpunished, he assured them that the government was working on the matter and directed that plying of the affected road to Makurdi should be temporary suspended.

The village head  of Rukubi Hassan Angulu and Chief Imam, Mallam Shuaibu Hassan, both described the killings as barbaric and urged proper investigation to arrest the culprits.

The unit commander, Rukubi police station, ASP Emmanuel  Tanko,  appealed to the affected families not to take law into their hands but remain calm as security agencies would ensure protection of lives and property of the people.

Our correspondent could not reach the state police spokesman, DSP Ramhan Nansel for reaction at press time yesterday.
