The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has called for the involvement of community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to avert unwarranted deaths and injuries during the distribution of palliatives.
There have been incidents of deaths a d injuries from stampede from people struggling to receive palliatives in Nasarawa and Lagos states recently.
While speaking with LEADERSHIP, Head of Media, NEMA, Ezekiel Manzo said there must be proper collaborations with leaders in the community, who will in turn, help coordinate their people properly.
He further explained that the agency is a professional body that work with highly trained individuals, who know how to handle such situations.
Manzo further advised that there is also need for involvement of security agencies and other relevant stakeholders whenever palliatives are shared.
He noted that dealing with the public is a difficult task that requires the services of all relevant stakeholders.
