Construction Works Begin On 100 Mass Housing Units In Kwara

The federal government has commenced works on the construction of 100 housing units to be delivered across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.

The programme christened the Renewed Hope Social Housing Scheme is aimed at providing affordable and decent housing for low-income earners, the homeless and other vulnerable groups.

The commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunsola, who led the Federal Housing officials on a tour of the sites said the visit underlined the seriousness the state government attached to providing accomodations for the people of the state.

He disclosed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is poised to fast track the commencement of the 100 units federal housing project across the state to reduce housing deficit in the state.

He described the project as another landmark achievement of the AbdulRazaq’s administration, adding that “the project is designed to have all modern facilities including mini supermarkets, school and other social amenities that would attract socio-economic development to the grassroots.

While appreciating the federal government for the initiative, the commissioner added that the scheme aligns with the state’s efforts to reduce housing challenges for citizens, stressing that the State Government would ensure the project is not delayed.

The director, Urban Design and Development of the Department of Urban and Regional Development in the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Akinola, expressed excitement over the reception at the Loma palace, promising that work would commence at the sites without delay.

Akinola, however, solicited the cooperation of stakeholders and communities where the projects are located to ensure a hitch free and timely completion of the scheme.

“These housing units would be among the projects that will be commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of his scorecard for the 2027 general elections campaign,” he added.
