The Adamawa State High Court has discharged and acquitted retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sheriff Abubakar Rabiu, former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to ex‑Governor Murtala Nyako, of all charges filed against him.

Presiding Chief Judge Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman ruled on Friday that the prosecution failed to prove the five‑count case beyond reasonable doubt.

Rabiu faced charges including criminal breach of trust, cheating, making false documents and inciting public disturbance over the alleged conversion of two landed properties valued at ₦80 million.

The prosecution had alleged the properties—originally purchased in the name of Sebore Farms—were transferred into Rabiu’s personal name and subsequently sold. Rabiu, who has been on trial since 2021, denied the allegations when arraigned.

Delivering judgment, Justice Hafsat said there was no evidence showing the commission of the offences and found that elements required to establish cheating—such as deceit, inducement or fraud—were not proved. She therefore discharged and acquitted him on all counts.

Rabiu’s counsel, Roland C. Enem, praised the court’s “diligent research and fair judgment,” calling the ruling exemplary.
