Court Remands 2 Over Alleged Rape of Pregnant Woman

A magistrate court in Yola, Adamawa State, has remanded two persons for allegedly raping a pregnant woman.

The court presided over by Muhammed Abubakar remanded Suleiman Adamu, 29 and Ahmadu Umaru 26, for criminal conspiracy, house trespass and rape.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations after they were arraigned by the prosecuting police officer, Inspector Zakka Musa, saying that it was a set up against them.

The defendants, both from Machimin community in Maiha, were arrested by local hunters.

According to the prosecution, the defendants also made away with the sum of N300,000 belonging to two housewives.

The court adjourned the matter to March 28, 2023 to enable the prosecution to transmit the case file to DPP for legal advice.
