Obeten, who is the eight executive council chairman of Yakurr LGA, made the remarks during a valedictory session organised by Council to mark the end of his tenure in office and to say thank you to all who assisted his administration.

While soliciting for projection of good image of Yakurr nation at home and diaspora, the outgoing council boss said: “I beg that you forgive us in places that my team and I wronged you. We must have stepped on toes in the course of trying to discharge our duties.

“It couldn’t have been possible without you and the criticisms that we got. Like it is often said, no one achieve success without the help of others.

“Let me extend my profound gratitude to all my members of exco and the bureaucrats who assisted us out with some of the most fundemental questions that we had.

“The inspiration and motivation for us to actualise our goal. I cannot gloss over the central role of our royal fathers.

“To our royal fathers you did so well to have stood solidly behind us throughout the period of our administion. It couldn’t have been possible without you,” Obeten stated.

He stressed that despite the outbreak of civil disturbance between Nko and Oyedama communities, Mkpani and Aduma internal wrangling, Idomi crhieftaincy tussle, which created a senario similar to that of civil war, cultism, banditry within the LGA, which almost caused him emotional breakdown, he and his team were able to submount the challenges.

“I maintained peace and tranquility in the council area irrespective of hostilities in the area. I never allowed money nor power to get into my brain,” he added.
