Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has appointed Imani Odey, a Television Reporter as his Special Assistant on Electronics Media.

A release with Ref No: SSG/GAO/ 102/ VOL. VI /218, signed by the Secretary to State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, directed Imani alongside others to present themselves at the Office of the SSG for briefing ad documentation.

The TV reporter, who is an indigene of Bekwarra local government area of the State, studied Theatre and Performing Arts from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Her professional journey in the media industry kick-started when she had opportunity to serve the nation as a Youth Corps member with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Sokoto Network Center, Sokoto State.

Due to her dint of hardwork, the young Corps member was retained by NTA.

She was thereafter deployed to NTA Calabar in her native Cross Rivers State, where she served as the Government House correspondent for three years before deciding to join a private broadcast station, Channels Television, shortly after resigning from NTA.

Her versatility in what is refered to in the media industry as ‘Community Reporting’ or Human Interest stories distinguished her from her contemporaries.
