The national coordinator of the Civil Society Coalition for Good Governance Mr Charles Ibiang has commended the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Senator Abdullahi Adamu for appointing Hon. Ben Duntoye as special adviser on Civil Society.
Ibiang who made the commendation in a statement yesterday, described Civil Society as the “Third-leg” in the tripod of nationhood, alongside the public and private sectors.
He stated that Duntoye’s pedigree, commitment to national development, credible records within the Civil Society Space, coupled with his strong faith in the ideals of the APC must have been responsible for this appointment.
Ibiang added that Adamu is the first political party chairman in Nigeria to recognize the role of Civil Society in this manner, towards deepening democratic governance in Nigeria.
Responding to the development, the national chairman of the Arewa Young Leaders Consultative Forum (AYLCF), Comrade Jubril Abdullahi Muregi, said Duntoye’s appointment is a clear demonstration of Senator Adamu’s belief in the potency of the Civil Society as a major anchor of development efforts.
“Sen Adamu deserves commendation for this historic and strategic appointment of a seasoned personality. The Civil Society Community sincerely appreciates him for his leadership and commend him for this gesture,” he was quoted as saying.
