The duo made the call during a partnership training event held in Abuja yesterday, where top executives and experts from both Arravo and AWS convened to discuss “Unleashing the Power of Cloud in the Public Sector.”

The chief executive officer of Arravo, Dr. Ayo Adegboye, who emphasised the inherent security advantages of cloud computing, said it will protect government and citizens’ business interests.

Adegboye stated that cyber security challenges are, to a large extent, inevitable, however, Amazon has gone above and beyond by providing multiple layers of security within the cloud.

According to him, “Security challenge to a large extent is inevitable. But what Amazon has done is to actually give you multiple layers of security when you look at the cloud.

“I have never heard of any major compromise when data sits in the cloud, which is what we bring you to this part of what we are bringing to this part of the world.”

On the benefits to the Nigerian government and business interest, he said, “When you talk about cloud to start with the economies of scale to start with as an individual or an enterprise, you have to border about power, you have to bother about security.

“So automatically, there is a significant reduction in the cost and the barrier to entry for you actually going into the cloud is pretty much lower, which means that from day one is to actually activate better and modern models. So your entry into IT infrastructure is scalable, modular, and pretty much secure.”

He also said that cloud services such as backup are readily available to Nigerians.

He said, “Trying to do it manually or trying to do it on premium, it would take us ages to get there. But with cloud adoption is just taking a leap into the future. With the usage of Gmail, and others, Nigerians are already using the cloud, and what is required now is to take steps to further maximise its benefits, including data sovereignty.”

On his part, regional lead sub-Sahara Africa of AWS, Mr Robbin Njiru, leveraging on their expertise Nigerians can do whatever business process they want faster in a more cost-efficient manner.

He said cloud computing also helps improve the overall experience of those businesses.

Njiru said that the world is evolving in technologies and Nigeria cannot afford to be left behind or trying to catch up on cloud computing.

He said, “Cloud computing is generally safer and with what is happening generally on cyber threats, cloud is generally a lot more trusted and is being adopted. It is easy to manage, resilient, accessible, and fast even in the supply chain.”
