Radio Host and Media personality, Daddy Freeze, has spoken out on the ongoing custody battle involving singer Davido and Sophia Momodu over their daughter, Imade Adeleke.
Reports state that Davido had allegedly lost his cool in court during cross-examination. The singer explained that he never asked for full custody and asked for joint custody. He later announced he had decided to drop the case and assured his daughter that she would grow up knowing he had fought for her. In 2024, Davido filed a lawsuit demanding joint custody of his daughter, but she denied him joint custody, citing the death of his son, among others, as reasons.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Freeze said someone close to the lawyer involved had reached out to complain about the negative reactions she has been facing online after Davido publicly confronted her.
Freeze pointed out that he does not support intimidation, bullying, or harassment of any kind; however, he remarked that the situation emphasises a deeper issue in Nigeria’s legal system.
Stating that lawyers often use harsh words and personal attacks in court for the sake of winning cases. He also disclosed that he had been subjected to insults during his court proceedings.
The media personality, especially, pointed out and questioned why very sensitive issues, including references to Davido’s late son, were claimed to have been raised during arguments, calling such tactics unnecessary low blows.
Freeze went on to say that while someone might win in court, social media remains the “court of public opinion,” where outcomes can be very different.
