The NSC organised what is being hailed as one of the most transparent and peaceful federation elections in recent history, covering 18 sports and resulting in the election of new presidents and board members for the next four years.

In his remarks, Mallam Dikko congratulated the newly elected officials and extended particular praise to the Director General for his determined and charismatic leadership throughout the electoral process.

“This is one of the most peaceful federation elections conducted in this country in recent times, and the DG played a pivotal role in ensuring this outcome by steadfastly upholding integrity, transparency, and justice,” he stated.

“The federation elections have often been fraught with challenges, but this time the DG ensured a markedly different experience, thanks to the cooperation of all stakeholders involved.”

Dikko also acknowledged the efforts of the Electoral Committee, chaired by Dr Simon Ebhonjaiye, who worked tirelessly alongside the DG to make the elections a success.

The entire electoral process has garnered widespread acclaim from stakeholders across the sports community.

Wale Edun, the newly elected President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBBF), expressed his gratitude to the NSC and promised a new era for boxing in the country. “The leadership of the NSC, under both Mallam Shehu Dikko and Honourable Bukola Olopade, has demonstrated professional leadership in the conduct of these elections.”

Victor Ochei, the new President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, shared his enthusiasm: “I am extremely excited and proud that Nigeria’s sports are now in the hands of such capable administrators as Honourable Bukola Olopade. I am committed to supporting the Commission’s efforts to establish a sustainable sports economy through tennis.”

Tayo Popoola, the newly elected President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, remarked, “The Sports Commission deserves commendation for charting a new course of competency among the various sports federations. The quality of the recent federation elections has set a new standard in the sports ecosystem.”
