Egbo Leads NNL Scorers’ Chart As Inter Lagos, Dakkada FC Shine In First Stanza

Nigeria National League (NNL) has released the official statistics for the first stanza of the 2024/2025 season, with Inter Lagos FC’s rising star, Othuke Egbo, emerging as the league’s top scorer. Egbo netted seven goals to lead the charts in the league that is widely regarded as Nigeria’s most competitive league.

The report,made available to the media by NNL Chief Operating Officer Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman at the league’s secretariat in Abuja, highlighted key performances and milestones from the first half of the season.

Key Highlights from the First Stanza
• Top Scorer: Othuke Egbo (Inter Lagos FC) – 7 goals
Only Hat-Trick: Abdullahi Umar (Kebbi United FC)
• Fastest Goals: Nentaka Bangs (Wikki Tourists) & Rhome Igbunu (Warri Wolves) – both scored in the 1st minute of separate matches
• Total Goals Scored: 278 (Average of 2.5 goals per match)
• Total Matches Played: 152
• Home Wins: 85
• Away Wins: 25 (highest in NNL history).
• Away Goals: 99
Inter Lagos FC and Dakkada FC led the scoring charts in their respective conferences, each recording 14 goals, while Wikki Tourists followed with 10 goals. On the other end, Igbajo United, Jigawa Golden Stars, and Zamfara United struggled in attack, scoring just two goals each.

Defensive Records
• Best Defence: Warri Wolves (Fewest goals conceded)
• Weakest Defence: Adamawa United (Most goals conceded – 20)
• Mighty Jets of Jos: Conceded the fewest goals (3)

Dr. Abdulrahman expressed his satisfaction with the competitive nature of the league, stating, “The statistics reflect the strength of the teams and the quality of individual players this season.”

With the first half of the season completed, the second stanza is set to begin in the first week of April, promising even fiercer competition as teams battle for promotion and survival. Fans can expect more exciting matches and standout performances as the race for the NNL title intensifies.
