El Kanemi Warriors, Ikorodu City, 2 Others Gain Promotion To NPFL

El-Kanemi Warriors have secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Maiduguri based football club finished second with six points in the Northern Conference of the just ended Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoff in Enugu after a 4-1 thrashing of Sokoto on Wednesday to gain promotion to NPFL for next football season.

Nasarawa United top the Northern Conference with nine points from three games after beating Sporting Supreme 2-1 in their last group game.

The two clubs who were relegated to NNL last season are joined by Ikorodu City and Beyond Limits FC in securing promotion to NPFL.

The Ikorodu City gained promotion to the top flight football league for the first time in the club’s history after finishing second in the Southern Conference with five points behind Beyond Limits, who topped the conference with seven points.

Their successful campaign marks a significant milestone in the history of the young club which was established barely two years ago.
