The Lagos State government has confiscated a sewage evacuation truck, with the truck driver apprehended for discharging feces into the drainage and polluting the environment in the Amuwo Odofin Housing Estate, Mile 2 area of Lagos State.

The Commissioner of Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed on his X (formerly Twitter) handle that the driver has been arraigned and remanded by the magistrate until Tuesday for sentencing.

He further stated that the truck owner will also be arraigned in criminal prosecution in line with the Lagos State Environmental Management Protection Law 2017 on Tuesday, 6th of February, 2024.

He, however, asserts that the state government has reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards all environmental nuisances across the state.

Similarly, to curb environmental crimes in Lagos, and acting upon the expiration of a 5-day quit notice issued by the Lagos State government to squatters under the Ijora Causeway Bridge, the Enforcement Team of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, with the Special Intervention Squad on the Restoration of the Lagos Badagry and Rail Corridor Clean-Up led by ACP Bayo Sulaiman, has begun enforcement.
