Ex-lawmaker Advises Benue Youths Against Illicit Drugs

A former member representing Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo federal constituency of Benue State in the 9th National Assembly, Hon Francis Ottah Agbo has advised youths of the state to shun the use of illicit drugs.

Agbo, who is the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) ambassador, stated this during a sensitisation outreach at Ado, Ogbadibo and Okpokwu.

The former lawmaker implored parents, traditional and religious leaders to join hands with the NDLEA to campaign vigorously in their domains in order to win this fight.

Speaking further, he charged the youth to desist from illicit drug intake which is capable of destroying their future.

He said drug abuse has a cost effect on abusers who engage in armed robbery, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and rape, for no one engaging in such nefarious activities do so with clear eyes but under the influence of drugs.

He also commended the leadership of the NDLEA for their dexterous effort in curbing this menace hoping it will yield the desired result.

Participants in the programme were drawn from among students, the youth community, elders, traditional and religious leaders.

After being well fed and empowered with some amount of money for participation, they were charged to go back home and spread the gospel of the war against drug abuse.
