Senator Kabir Garba Marafa has described as fake a report published by an online platform (not LEADERSHIP) that he has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying it was untrue and Nigerians should disregard it.

Senator Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central Senatorial District at the Senate between 2011 and 2019, said he exited the ruling party alongside thousands of his supporters across the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State on August 28, 2025.

Marafa, who won Zamfara State for President Bola Tinubu as the State Campaign Coordinator during the 2023 Presidential Election, had while leaving the APC, lamented that they were used and dimped by the President.

A statement by the Director-General (New Media) in the Media Office of Senator Marafa, Comrade Mansur M. Haruna, on Thursday, called on media organisations to uphold the principles of professional journalism, accuracy, and responsibility, and to refrain from publishing unverified information that could mislead the public and heat the polity.

“Our attention has been drawn to a publication by the online platform ‘Ripples Nigeria’, which falsely claimed that Senator Kabir Garba Marafa has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his supporters.

“We categorically reject, refute, and distance ourselves from this false, baseless, and deliberately misleading report, which is clearly a sponsored propaganda aimed at confusing the public and tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of our political leader.

“To begin with, the publication is riddled with fundamental errors that undermine its credibility. The report wrongly identified Senator Kabir Garba Marafa OFR, CON (Marafan Gusau) as a member of the House of Representatives, whereas he is a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who proudly represented Zamfara Central Senatorial District from 2011 to 2019.

“The report further misrepresented his origin by linking him to Sokoto State, an assertion that is entirely false. Senator Kabir Garba Marafa is a bona fide indigene of Zamfara State, a fact that is well known to Nigerians and easily verifiable.

“More disturbingly, the report alleged, without evidence, that Senator Kabir Garba Marafa left the APC in 2018 to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This claim is entirely fictitious, misleading, and born out of political mischief. There is no record, declaration, or historical basis to support such an assertion.

“For the avoidance of doubt and for the record, Senator Kabir Garba Marafa formally resigned from the APC on the 28th of August 2025. Since that resignation, there has been no official declaration by him or his political associates indicating membership of, or return to, any political party.

“It is therefore false and irresponsible for any media platform to speculate or publish unverified claims suggesting that Senator Kabir Garba Marafa has returned to APC or is aligned with any political party.

“We hereby urge the general public, party members, supporters, and the media to disregard this false, misleading, and fabricated report in its entirety. When Senator Kabir Garba Marafa decides to align with or join any political platform, he will formally and transparently communicate the decision to his political structure, as he did openly when he left APC,” the spokesman stated.
