Governments at all levels have been urged to intensify efforts towards making life more meaningful to the people.
The founder of Opeyemi-David Falegan Foundation, Hon. Opeyemi Falegan, who made the call, said the government’s primary responsibilities are to secure the lives and cater for the welfare of the people.
Falegan spoke in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state, at an event to celebrate the 2025 edition of the foundation’s empowerment programme.
Hundreds of civil servants, market women, and artisans across the 16 Local Government areas of the state benefited from Free Cooking Gas, Cash gifts, and food items.
This initiative aims to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal and economic hardship on the people.
Beneficiaries of the week-long philanthropic programme, initiated by Falegan, used the occasion to express gratitude to him.
He stressed the need for the federal, state, and local governments to uphold the dictates of the law by being aware of their responsibilities.
Falegan said people at the helm of affairs could achieve this by using the nation’s resources to provide necessities, protect rights, and ensure social welfare for all citizens.
He used the occasion to appeal to the government to be aware of its responsibility and fix some of the state’s deplorable major roads.
Some of the beneficiaries commended him for positively impacting people’s lives, improving the lives of Ekiti people, and ameliorating their sufferings during this period of economic hardship.
Three of them, Fakunle Lekan, Abiodun Ayokunle, and David Thomas, called on Falegan to enter politics to have a greater impact on people’s lives.
According to them, “If Falegan were to be in government, people would enjoy his benevolence the most because this humanitarian gesture was a testament to his potential to make positive impacts in the lives of Ekiti people”.
