Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, has been slammed by a section of music fans after he paid homage to late ex- Marlian Music signee, Mohbad, in his recently dropped single.

Recall that Mohbad tragically passed away a few months ago, leading to the arrest of the singer and his associates. They eventually secured their freedom after spending some time behind bars.

In the waning days of last December, Naira Marley, just out of the Police hot seat, took to his social media platform to unveil his latest track, “Wahala.”

In a fresh turn of events, the controversial singer dropped the music video titled ‘Wahala’ and made the announcement through his social media handles.

He kicked off the video by paying tribute to the late singer Mohbad, a move that stirred a pot of mixed reactions, leaning heavily towards backlash.

Critics bashed Naira Marley for seemingly chasing clout with his tribute to Mohbad in the song.

Many argued that he was trying to ride Mohbad’s name for publicity, asserting that his homage came rather tardily.

In October 2023, the singer was arrested over allegations that he was involved in the death of Mohbad, his former signee.

Marley was released on bail in November after spending over five weeks in detention.
