FCT Football Association (FA) has suspended Coach Luke Olaiya and Coach Meshach Olatunji of Like-Minds from football activities within the Nigeria’s capital territory indefinitely.
This is following the recommendation of it’s ethics and disciplinary committee that investigated the incidents that happened before and after the November 30 by-election for the vacant first vice chairman’s position.
The committee had recommended expulsion and indefinite suspension for both coaches for their misconduct during the election.
According to the committee’s report, Olaiya was caught by security operatives with a knife at the election venue after he and his principal had threatened the life of FA Secretary Haruna Ilerika.
Olatunji was also sanctioned with an indefinite suspension for similar offence.
Both coaches, as affiliates of Babatunde Bucknor, a board member of the FCT FA, who has also been suspended indefinite following his roles before and after the election which he contested and lost to Alhaji Salihu Kolo.
A letter signed by Barrister Jimmy Kadiri, the Secretary of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, stated that Olaiya and Olatunji failed to appear before the investigative panel to show up and defend themselves as they did not give tangible reasons for their absence.
