The acting executive chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango, has announced plans to introduce a fully automated, merit-based promotion examination system, improve working conditions, and procure staff buses to ease the commuting difficulties of workers.
Ango made the disclosure at a special appreciation event tagged “A Night with Ango,” organised by the staff of the Service over the weekend to honour him.
The event recognised his commitment to staff development, administrative transparency, and the ongoing transformation of the revenue agency.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, FCT-IRS, Mustapha Sumaila, the acting executive chairman expressed profound gratitude for the honour, stating that he was taken aback by the gesture.
He reaffirmed his dedication to building an organisation that prioritises its workforce.
“I am very honoured and very appreciative of your efforts to appreciate me. When I first resumed, I made a commitment to ensure that staff welfare, particularly salary increments and career progression, remain at the top of our agenda.
“I want to assure you that, by the grace of God and with your support, we will achieve these goals,” he said.
He further underscored that the vision for the FCT-IRS transcends individual tenures, focusing on building a lasting institutional legacy.
“Leaders will come and go, employees will come and go, but the organisation will remain. What we are building today will stand the test of time so that our children and their children can find pride in working here one day,” he said.
The chairman called on the staff to remain committed and united as the Service continued its reform agenda aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and overall productivity.
The event featured goodwill messages from various staff members, who commended the acting executive chairman for his humility, accessibility, and unwavering dedication to the progress of the FCT-IRS.
