FCT Minister Wike Lauded For Road Infrastructure Development

A civic group, United Advocates for Good Governance and Leadership, has commended the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his extensive road infrastructure projects across Abuja since assuming office in 2023.

The group’s national coordinator, Advocate Israel T. Ebiama, praised Wike for his commitment to road construction, rehabilitation, and expansion, which have significantly improved connectivity within the capital.

Since taking office, Wike has flagged off and commissioned several roads, including key projects in Kuje, Bwari, Kwali, Abaji, and Gwagwalada.

Other notable projects include the Asokoro to Apo Expressway, Next Cash and Carry Road linking Jahi to Katampe, Saburi to Dei Dei Road, as well as the construction of bus stations in Kugbo, Mabushi, and the Central Area District (CAD).

Ebiama highlighted several ongoing infrastructure projects under Wike’s leadership. These include: The Utako to Mabushi flyover, Jahi to Katampe flyover, and Maitama to Gishiri flyover extending to Gwarinpa.

“The Apo to Karshi road expansion and the Life Camp Junction to Kubwa Expressway.

“Road lighting projects, including along the Independence Avenue corridor and the National Christian Centre to Living Faith Area One Expressway.

“In addition, work is ongoing on the FCT Light Rail System, aimed at enhancing public transportation in the capital,” he said.

Other major road reconstruction projects include the 25km Kwaita/Yebu Road in Kwali Area Council,Rehabilitation of the Old Ushafa-LUD Road and the Dutse-Lower Usuma Dam Dual Carriageway in Bwari Area Council,Construction of the 11km Aguma Palace-Radio Nigeria-New Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council, and the Dakibiyu District Dual Carriage Road.

He said further developments include the full-scale construction of arterial roads such as the 4km Obafemi Awolowo Road (Life Camp to Ring Road III), the Shehu Shagari Way (Ring Road II to Ring Road III) with two interchanges, and the 11.3km access road to the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe.

 

 

Ebiama expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting Wike with the FCT portfolio, noting that his leadership has significantly enhanced the city’s infrastructure.

 

“We thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for giving Wike the platform to showcase his infrastructural development capacity in the FCT.

 

” We urge Wike to continue his good work, and we fully support him and the Renewed Hope Government,” he said.
