The Federal Government has revealed plan to honour 250 outstanding Nigerians for their exceptional dedication, innovation and patriotism toward nation building as part of activities marking the 65th Independence anniversary.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the Compendium of 250 top performers in Nigeria to commemorate the anniversary, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, described the initiative as a historic and remarkable documentary.
Akume, in a statement by the Director Information in his office, Segun Imohiosen, added that the initiative aimed at celebrating the values of resilience, innovation and patriotism among Nigerians.
“This initiative presents a timely opportunity to reflect, project and celebrate the values of resilience, innovation and innovation that defines the Nigerian spirit”, he said.
The SGF, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Mallam Sanusi Danjuma, said the compendium will serve as the face of Nigeria’s immense human endowments and provide vista of opportunities for the youth to aspire for greatness as well as renew commitment to national unity and nation building.
Senator Akume stressed that the project, organised in collaboration with OyanaHealth Limited, will feature government’s key achievements and 11 top performing state governors.
He added that it will also feature quiz competition, patriotic songs of hope, innovative and creativity exhibitions and music concert.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Engr. Nadungu Gagare, stressed that the compendium will serve as a historic record and strategy for inspiring talents and promoting credible narratives about Nigeria and recognising excellence in governance.
Engr. Gagare added that the compendium will also document and celebrate Nigerian’s excellence both at home and across the globe.
Speaking earlier, the Convener of the Compendium on 250 Top Nigerian Performers Across the Globe who is the CEO of OyanaHealth Ltd, Jennifer Obiasor stated that the project themed: “Nigeria Celebrates” will celebrate 250 outstanding Nigerians who are trailblazers in various fields including medicine, business, sports, entertainment, technology and diplomacy.
