The Federal Government has reassured residents of Plateau State of its commitment to tackling insecurity, announcing the approval for the recruitment of 1000 Plateau youths as forest guards.
Vice President, Kashim Shettima, made this known while speaking at the grand reception marking the defection of Plateau State Governor, Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
LEADERSHIP reports that the occasion was attended by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the House of Representatives’ Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and several APC Governors and supporters.
The Vice President described Governor Mutfwang as a unifying force and a change-maker, stressing that dialogue, rather than division, remains the strongest tool for addressing political and social challenges in the state.
He added that the Federal Government remains committed to executing lasting development projects in Plateau State.
Meanwhile, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, in his response, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and APC members for the warm reception, urging Nigerians to work together to stabilise the country and support the current administration.
He said his move to the APC signals renewed political alignment and support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly from the North-Central zone.
Governor Mutfwang emphasised unity, describing the APC broom as a symbol of representation of collective strength, and reassured Plateau residents of his commitment to good governance.
He noted that his move to the ruling party, APC, was a transition aimed at advancing development rather than personal and political gain.
