The minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, at a town hall meeting and engagement organised by the ministry as part of the nationwide sensitisation programme on government policies, services, and initiatives in line with  President Tinubu’s eight-point agenda.

He said NELFUND had disbursed N549,199,000 to Ekiti State beneficiaries, and more students were still in line to access the fund.

The minister who reiterated the federal government’s commitment to a better living for the citizenry and nation-building said the vision is to have education for all by 2030.

While urging the students to key into the initiative, he said, “NELFUND is established by the federal government as a beacon of hope for Nigerian students pursuing education, to provide financial aid for them and lessen financial burden on parents sending their children to higher institutions of learning “.

The minister, who was represented by the head and director of the Ekiti state office of the Federal Information and Resource Centre, Mrs Omotola Oluyemisi, said the President Bola Tinubu-led government has been actively engaging communities across Nigeria, listening to their concerns, responding to their yearnings, and promoting a better understanding under standard policies.

Dwelling on why the programme was conceived, he said, “It is aimed at ensuring transparency, public engagement and citizens’ participation in national development. We are carefully treading the track the government has chosen, building trust, fostering national unity and promoting transparency and accountability.

“Our role is to ensure that the public remains informed about their rights, available services and the government’s achievements. It also amplifies the Federal Government’s political will in delivering democratic dividends, supporting grassroots development, and ensuring no one is left uninformed about the epochal Sure-P of President Tinubu’s Administration.
