Find Purpose, Natasha Urges Young Women

The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has urged young women to discover their purpose in life and find joy in pursuing it.

She gave the charge yesterday during a dinner she hosted at her Abuja residence to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.

Akpoti-Uduaghan said a woman’s strength lies not in her beauty or fashion but in her character, content and courage.

She encouraged young women to find causes worth advocating for, use their voices for change, and take an active interest in politics and leadership.

According to her, women must continue to uphold their rightful place in society.

Recalling her humble beginnings, she said, “I remember hawking in the streets of Ihima Market and Lokoja. I know what it takes to be a woman of vision. I never gave up because I understood that true success requires starting from somewhere. I’m happy that the struggles yielded positive outcomes despite all challenges.”

Also speaking, an anti-trafficking advocate, Mrs Yakubu Oyiza Hope, described the day as special, sharing her story of rescuing over 10,000 women held captive in Libya.

“For me to take such a bold step despite the risks shows that there is a hidden strength in every woman,” she said.

The event brought together young women between the ages of 25 and 30, creating an intimate space for mentorship, storytelling, and empowerment.

The dinner also featured inspiring women whose stories reflected resilience, leadership, and determination.
