Properties worth N150 million have been gutted by an early morning fire at Yan Katako (Wood) Market in Rijiyar Lemo Market in Kano State.

The chairman of the market, Mamuda Musa Abdullahi said the fire started at about 1.00 am yesterday, noting that over 50 shops were affected by the fire.

He said the shops affected contain items such as plywood, foam, spray machines, chairs and other carpentry tools.

While appealing to the government and philanthropists to come to their aid, the chairman however pointed out that many traders have lost their means of livelihood.

The spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif, who also confirmed the incident said no lives were lost, adding that they have launched an investigation to unravel the cause of the fire outbreak.
