Reacting to the incident, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, condemned the incident, and lauded the bravery of  students, staff and security agents  who took part in extinguishing the fire, and assured them that a committee would be set up  to investigate the fire.

A statement from the public relations unit said; “The wildfire whose rage was halted by the brave efforts of members of the university community affected mainly the major storeroom housing furniture, cleaning agents, stationery and other items yet to be identified as that part of the building was razed.

“The cause and financial cost of the damage engendered by the fire which was reported at about 8:30pm are yet to be determined.”
