A real estate firm, Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, has commenced construction of its “Wonderland Estate” project in Emene, Enugu, as part of efforts aimed at addressing housing needs in the state.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, the Managing Director of the company, Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, said the estate was designed to provide housing options with mortgage arrangements and recreational facilities.

According to him, part of the land earmarked for the project would be used for green areas and recreational development.

He stated that the estate would include parks, trees, and other environmental features intended to create a conducive living environment for residents.

Emmanuel also disclosed that the project would feature a leisure park with facilities such as a hotel, swimming pool, and other recreational centres.
He said the estate is located within proximity to key locations including the airport and Godfrey Okoye University.

According to him, the company currently operates 14 estates across Enugu State.
Former Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo, who attended the event, said initiatives aimed at expanding housing development could help reduce Nigeria’s housing deficit.

He noted that access to mortgage-friendly housing schemes could improve home ownership opportunities for workers and civil servants.

Also speaking at the event, Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor encouraged prospective investors and residents to examine available opportunities within the estate project.
