Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has been conferred with the revered traditional title of Sarauniyar Yaki (Warrior Queen) of Akko Emirate in Gombe State.
The title was bestowed on her on Thursday by the Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, in recognition of her steadfast commitment to defending the vulnerable and championing the welfare of women and children across the nation.
During her two-day working visit to Gombe State, the First Lady is also scheduled to launch the Renewed Hope Initiative’s ‘Flow With Confidence’ programme, a landmark menstrual health intervention that will provide schoolgirls with disposable sanitary pads to promote menstrual hygiene and reduce school absenteeism.
Speaking after the conferment, Mrs. Tinubu expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as both inspiring and humbling.
She pledged to deepen her interventions for the girl-child, particularly in education and health, while calling on traditional rulers to support her advocacy and help take her initiatives to the grassroots.
The ceremony, held in Akko Emirate, was witnessed by Gombe State governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, alongside other dignitaries.
