A heavy downpour on Friday’s night washed away the bridge linking Odo-Ase community in Oke Ero local government area with other parts of the Kwara State.
Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, yesterday appointed a delegation led by deputy governor Kayode Alabi to visit Odo-Ase community to assess extent of damage done by the downpour.
On the entourage of the deputy governor were the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Alh Ishaq Olorukooba and other officials from the ministry.
The delegation visited the community to commiserate with the people as well as assess the requirements for reconstruction.
“The governor sends his commiserations to the people of the community. He reassures them that immediate steps will be taken to reconstruct the bridge as soon as possible to reconnect the people to their neighbouring communities,” he said according to a statement signed by the governor’s press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
