Fresh Turmoil In ADC As Atiku, Babachir Lawal Suspended By A Faction In Adamawa

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, deepening the internal crisis rocking the party.

The faction’s chairman in the state, Raji Sulaiman Zumo, made the announcement on Monday, stating that the decision was taken by the group under his leadership.
Also affected by the suspension is former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

The development comes amid an ongoing leadership tussle within the ADC at the national level. A rival faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has laid claim to the position of national chairman, creating parallel structures within the party.

The crisis escalated further after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly withdrew recognition of a leadership bloc associated with former Senate President, David Mark.

The suspension of high-profile figures like Atiku and Lawal signals a deepening divide within the ADC, particularly in Adamawa State, a key political stronghold.
