What motivated you into the music industry and why gospel music?

Well, I’ve been a church girl from the outset, born into a singing family. I’ve  been in choir as a child. My relationship with God influenced my decision to become a gospel singer. I also thought about what I could give back to the person that saved my life and I found out that I could sing. I asked myself, ‘Why don’t I sing about Him, as well as His love and grace’? That is how we got here.

It seems you have groomed lots of musicians and upcoming artistes as a music coach, tell us more about it.

By the grace of God, I have groomed individuals,  school students, and choirs around the country. I have worked with novice and professional singers to improve pitch, tone, range, and song delivery. This is achieved by typically listening to clients sing to assess their skills, strengths, and weaknesses, and then tailor lessons according to their needs and specifications.

Can you tell us some of the songs you have done and how or what are the reviews you got from them?

(Sigh) I many songs but some of my them include: “You Do Well”, “Love Story”, “Okamaleya”, “I Know”, “Legit God”, “Follow Me”, “Holy Spirit” an others. “You Do Well” was my debut single. I put it up on MTN Music plus , and in less than 48 hours, it was 3rd highest rated. Not too long,  “Love Story” was released, I put it still on MTN music plus. And for that month, I won the highest rated. Mind you, it’s a platform for both gospel and secular music. I was given an award from MTN that year. Also, I started getting calls for collabos from secular artistes for that song.

Who have you featured in your music and what should your fans expect from you next?

I first featured Samsong in a song titled “Okaka” , Owie Abutu in “Okamaleya” this song got an award in 2021 Mega Awards. Ema Onyx in “God Of Power” Aad others. Well, by the grace of God something is cooking so watch out for it.

What’s your take about the music industry in Nigeria and what do you think the government can do to help the industry grow?

Gospel music in Nigeria, a distinct Christian musical genre, has witnessed diverse innovations in the contemporary time; a trend which has led to the evolution of diverse styles. Several gospel musicians have influenced gospel music in Nigeria at different times. However, the influence of some musicians seems to be evergreen. Their compositions have gone deep into other parts of the world.

In return gospel artiste are not encouraged. You can imagine after spending millions of naira to produce a very good song, shoot beautiful videos, and invest so much in radio, television, social media platforms promotions, nobody seems to appreciate your intellectual work.It can be frustrating, you know. I think the government, individuals, and corporate organisations should also invest in the gospel music industry and if they choose to show no concern, religious bodies should fully come to the rescue by given us more platforms to showcase our talent and spreading the good news of God.
