Governorship candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Mohammed Barde has filed a petition before the Election Petitions Tribunal challenging the reelection of Governor Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Barde had during the election alleged that it was marred by vote-buying and vowed to take legal action against the exercise.
Also in the suit, the petitioner named APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as respondents respectively. Inuwa won the election in 10 out of the 11 local government areas of the state. He scored 342, 821 votes to secure another term of four years while Barde came second with 233, 131 votes. The tribunal has set Tuesday, May 2, 2023 for the inaugural sitting.
