Governor Mohammed Bago in his condolence message described the late Galadima Raban Nupe as a disciplined and dedicated man who stood for righteousness.
The message signed by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, while announcing the death of Alh. Gimba condoled the Etsu Nupe and chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alh. Yahaya Abubakar, over the loss.
The Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar yesterday led other traditional leaders to the burial of the Galadima Raba Nupe, who died yesterday, The monarch expressed deep sorrow over the passing of one of his close confidants.
Speaking shortly after the burial rites, he said the death of the Galadima Raba Nupe was a very painful loss to the Nupe, Bida Emirate and the entire Niger State.
The Etsu Nupe said the late Galadima Raba was not only a loyal title holder but also a trusted adviser whose wisdom, commitment and dedication to the progress of the Nupe Kingdom would be greatly missed.
He stated that the deceased lived a life of service to humanity, his community and the traditional institution.
He added that his contributions to peace, unity and development in Nupe land would remain indelible, saying, “His death is indeed a painful one for me personally, for the Bida Emirate Council and for all who knew him.
We have lost a man of honour, integrity and humility.”
The traditional ruler was reported to be well on Friday and was going about his normal business.
A family source said he left for hospital on his own in the morning.
He was in his early 50 years and is survived by three wives and many children.
