Barely two months after his inauguration to succeed former Governor Udom Emmanuel, incumbent Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State yesterday constituted his cabinet of 22 Commissioners and one special advisers, with a task to work assiduously towards effective implementation of his ‘Arise Agenda’ encapsulating the major policy thrust of his administration.
Addressing the new state executive council members, mostly drawn from the immediate past administration at the ceremony held at the Government House, Uyo, the state capital, governor Eno charged them to bring their ingenuity to bear by hitting the ground running in the discharge of their responsibilities as government was not ready to waste ample time and resources in the implementation of its policies and programmes for the people.
Although the cabinet members are yet to be assigned their portfolios, LEADERSHIP gathered that the governor would reshuffle, swap positions and set new targets for effective development of the state.
The inaugural meeting, the governor stated, was held on Friday, and it was learnt, portfolios would be assigned to the returning officials during the meeting billed to take place at the exco chambers.
He said he deliberately avoided the temptation of injecting the new blood into the cabinet, but pointed out that his action was deliberately taken as a reward for fighting and winning the election war with him.
“You have a deliberately orchestrated roadmap to execute the programs of your office,” he charged.
