Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in sustaining peace and security in the state.
He gave the assurance at the 3rd Armoured Division Rukuba Barracks, Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA) 2025, held at the Parade Ground of the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, at the weekend.
Mutfwang, represented by the Commissioner of Information and Communication, Rt Hon Joyce Lohya Ramnap emphasised the importance of the Nigerian Army’s role in promoting peace, security, and national unity, describing WASA as a strong demonstration of the enduring bond, mutual trust, and cordial relationship between the people of Plateau State and the Nigerian Army.
Governor Mutfwang commended the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices and contributions to peace and security in Plateau State and across Nigeria, highlighting the state’s progress in restoring peace and stability. He noted that Plateau State is proudly reclaiming its identity as the Home of Peace and Tourism.
The governor expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for their support and deployment of troops to Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang, who also inspected the quarter guards on the occasion, appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his tireless support of the Armed Forces and the people of Plateau State.
He called on stakeholders to support the government’s efforts in the war against insecurity.
Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3rd Armoured Division Jos, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, said the West African Social Activities is a yearly military tradition, to promote unity and cultural exchange within the barracks.
He said the purpose is to strengthen bonds between soldiers, families, and communities as well as reinforce discipline, and acknowledges year-round efforts.
