Plateau State Governor Barr Caleb Mutfwang has sworn in five new Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service and called on them to be diligent and revolutionise the service through hard work and dedication.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at New Government House, Little Rayfield Jos, Mutfwang urged them to dedicate themselves and be diligent in their service to the state.
He said, “We are going to be intentional in trying to raise the standard of governance in every ministry, department, and agency.”
“We are going to provide leadership for this transformation process, and this leadership will require character, integrity, and knowledge.”
“You must add value to the office you’re posted to; You must add value to your life. People will come to you, and you should be able to guide them.”
While congratulating the new permanent secretaries, the governor stated that their appointment was based on hard work and dedication.
The Governor also said, “Let me warn that my administration will not tolerate indiscipline, flagrant abuse of office, or indolence.”
He charged them to remain focused and join hands with his administration on implementing the programmes, policies, and projects to deliver the ‘Time is Now’ mandate, as this would justify the overwhelming support they got from the good people and citizens of Plateau state.
Mutfwang urged them to use their wealth of experience and sense of industry in the civil service, a structured bureaucracy based on a long tradition of rules, regulations, and guidelines.
LEADERSHIP also reports that the Governor inaugurated the Plateau State Economic Advisory Council.
In his words, “The main job of this council is to advise us on how to turn our opportunities into prosperity.
“I firmly believe that Plateau State should not be ranked among the poorest states in Nigeria. Unfortunately, we are somewhere down that pecking order in the poverty index, and it’s simply because we haven’t harvested our opportunities.
He added that we must turn the advantages God has given us into wealth for our people.
