Gov Otu Redeploys 6 Commissioners

Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has carried out a minor reshuffle of the State Executive Council SEC), approving the immediate redeployment of six commissioners to new ministries.

The development was announced by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Mr Linus Obogu, in a social media post sighted by LEADERSHIP yesterday in Calabar while the executive council meeting was still ongoing.

A Government House source who gave details of the redeployment said the move was part of efforts by the administration to “reposition government for greater efficiency and optimal service delivery.”

According to the source, “The commissioner for Environment, Dr Moses Osogi, has been moved to the Ministry of Water Resources, while the commissioner for Information, Dr Erasmus Ekpang, will now head the Ministry of Lands.”

He said that Bassey Mensah is now the commissioner for Environment, Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham, takes over as commissioner for Information, Mr Francis Ekpenyong, moves to the Ministry of Livestock and Mr Kingsley Egumi assumes office as commissioner for Transport.

“Governor Otu charged the affected commissioners to quickly settle into their new portfolios, noting that the redeployment takes immediate effect,” the source maintained.
