The Kano State governor, Engr. Abba Yusuf, has dismissed allegations by the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, that his government had in two years looted from public treasury 10 times more than the immediate-past administration of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, which spent eight years in office.

The governor spoke on Sunday during a special meeting with the 484 Councillors from the 44 local government area councils of the State, where he declared that any attack on Kwankwaso’s interity was unacceptable.

Governor Yusuf explained that what the former SSG was heard saying in a viral clip on social media alleging that the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, was collecting N2 billion from the state government’s coffers monthly, was totally untrue.

The governor lamented that an elderly person like Bichi would engage in such misconduct, which can lead to misleading the younger persons into disrespecting political, religious, and traditional leaders in the society.

“There is a beneficiary of this government that was removed from his position that I watched on the social media falsely saying that this government within two years has stolen 10 times more than what that Ganduje government had looted in eight years.

“Why didn’t he say this when he was in office if he is truly honest?

“Our society is facing a very serious challenge, a very bad situation where our religious scholars, elders and traditional rulers are insulted by individuals at will.

“Henceforth, we will not continue to tolerate these. We are going to take necessary measures to ensure we address them.”

Speaking on Kwankwaso, Governor Yusuf said: “Our leader had served this country in various capacities and is aware of all leadership challenges having attained all the necessary heights in his political career.

“How can such a leader be molested by individuals that have hardly attained such heights in life?

“You can insult us, condemn our administration, but we will never tolerate insults on our revered leader.

“I would like to call on the radio stations that air such unfortunate things and feed the public with jargons to desist from such acts. If they refuse, I use this opportunity to remind them that we are in position of authority in the state,” the governor stated.

He further declared that as strong supporters of Kwankwaso, “wherever he goes, we will follow,” adding that there was no regret for their decision.

Earlier in his speech, the governor called for unity among all elected office-holdeds in the state and promised that his administration will play its part in ensuring success.

He promised to support the councillors with community projects they bring forward to him after instructing them to come up with such projects from the education, health and agriculture sectors.

“You can see that there is no individual that is corrupt that has a place in this government. For as long as he is a looter of public funds, he has no place in our government.

“We are planning to renovate all local government headquarters in the state and make them look good enough to support economic development and discourage rural-urban migration as well as enhance security,” Governor Yusuf added.
