Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has appointed Oluwatosin Adejumo, a puff-puff seller, as a chef at the state’s Government House and offered her a scholarship for further studies.
The governor made the announcement in a post on his official X handle on Friday, describing Adejumo as “the puff-puff seller turned Government House chef.”
Adejumo, who holds a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) and also has professional catering skills, came to Adeleke’s attention during a recent rally in Osogbo where organised labour and other unions endorsed his second-term bid.
Recalling the encounter, Adeleke wrote, “A few days ago, I met Ms. Oluwatosin Adejumo… during the rally where organised labour in Osun State, in collaboration with other unions, endorsed the work we are doing and declared their support for my second term.”
He added, “Today, I fulfilled my promise by officially presenting her appointment letter as one of our Government House chefs. Beyond her employment, I have also offered her a scholarship up to the Master’s level, should she choose to further her education.”
The governor described her journey as an inspiration, “Her story is a powerful reminder that hard work and dedication never go unnoticed. My administration will continue to recognize and uplift excellence wherever we find it.”
A video shared by Adeleke showed him buying all of Adejumo’s puff-puff with N50,000 during the rally before engaging her in a brief conversation about her catering skills and instructing his aides to collect her contact details.
