Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has assured the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) of his administration’s continued support in the state towards reducing the rate of crime and criminality, especially in flashpoint local government areas of Alkaleri, Tafawa Balewa, Toro and Ningi.
The governor commended the Air Force for its relentless efforts in protecting life and property of the people of the state.
Governor Bala Mohammed who spoke when the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar paid him courtesy call at Government House Bauchi yesterday, expressed his excitement over the visit, and commended his leadership qualities.
He also added that traditional institutions and local hunters play a pivotal role in the fight against banditry and other vices.
While appreciating the NAF for its unwavering commitment to fighting banditry, Mohammed called for continued collaboration and information sharing.
The chief of air staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar had earlier informed the governor that Nigerian Air Force has re-invigorated its efforts towards continued intelligence surveillance and recognises some flash points in the state which include; Alkaleri, Tafawa Balewa, Toro and Ningi local government areas.
Air Marshal Abubakar said, “As the state government plays its part, the Nigeria Air Force will continue to synergize with other security agencies to ensure the security of life and property and enduring peace in Bauchi State is guaranteed.
“Let me re-assure that the Nigerian Air Force personnel would continue to maintain the professional and cordial relationship with the civilian population of Bauchi State, we’ll also sustain our contribution to the surrounding communities periodically, medical outreach and other quick impact activities.”
Abubakar commended the state government for approving the construction of a road project for Nigerian Air Force based in Bauchi, adding “We’re also very grateful to the governor for his intervention and approval for the Special Operation Command to continue using one of the state government’s property as officers’ accommodation.”
