Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has assured of more partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to enhance the resettlement, reconstruction and recovery programme of the state government.
The governor who disclosed this while receiving the chief of mission of IOM UN migration in Nigeria, Sharon Dimanche, said his administration launched the state policy on Internally Displaced Persons to address their challenges.
He said his administration had allocated five per cent of the state’s budget to provide more infrastructure and facilitate the resettlement and integration of IDPs with dignity.
“l am happy this has worked for us, and we do not have IDP camps in the state as our displaced persons have been resettled with dignity, which has become a point of reference,” he said.
The chief of mission commended Buni for his commitment to the cause of displaced persons.
“lt takes a leader with a special heart to show such great concern for the resettlement of displaced persons with dignity,” Sharon said.
She reiterated the commitment of IOM to partner with the state government to improve lives.
