As Muslims across the globe continue to bask in the euphoria of this year’s Eid Al-Adha, in Gombe State the celebration is rather an absolute one where many people celebrated two fortuitous elegances; felicitating Sallah blessedness and at the same time basking in the glow of intentional gratitude and appreciation for the special Sallah package from Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Eid Al-Adha, a ritual where Muslims sacrifice animals seeking the pleasure of Allah, this year’s rite came at a difficult time when people are struggling to escape from the grab of inflation and other biting economic hardships.
As a show of compassion and benevolence, the humanitarian governor doled-out 114 million Naira to youths and women across all wards of Gombe State. The money was mainly shared to the less privileged ones in a order to provide succor and cushion the effect of the biting economic conditions. The package was meant to cater for 100 people in each of the 114 wards of the state with each ward allocated 1 million naira.
Governor Yahaya also approved release of another sum of 250 Million Naira to thousands of citizens, organisations and groups across the length and breadth of the state.
Also in his move to put a smile on the faces of the vulnerable people, Governor Inuwa donated cows to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to enable them celebrate Sallah in a good mood.
Governor Inuwa has also extended this gesture to the inmates that are confined within the four walls of our correctional centres. The governor believes that they equally deserve happiness especially at this special time of the year which is why, as a leader; he sent cows for them to give them a sense of belonging.
Apart from the social and psychological impacts these magnanimous gestures of Dan Maje made and continue to make on the people, analysts said that it has also stimulated the markets and the overall local economy of the state.
As a leader who gives welfare of his people preference, Dan Maje’s Eid Al-Adha magnanimity is just a consolidation of his continued care for the welfare of Gombawa. The warm Iftar sessions he had with different groups of people during last Ramadan and subsequent Eid-Al-Fitr packages are still fresh in people’s minds.
Governor Inuwa has proven that leadership is not only about power and authority to command, but about confidence and happiness one puts in the minds of his people, and this trait is only exhibited by legends.
