Governor Sule Threatens Disloyal Appointees

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has warned disloyal political appointees to redeem themselves or be sacked from his administration.

Speaking during an interface with his appointees at the Government House, Lafia yesterday, the governor said those with questionable intentions have no business being in government.

Sule had before the electioneering campaign ahead of the 2023 elections given a similar warning to appointees who were deemed to be loyal to some persons in the state.

“I don’t want to fire anybody. I believe that it’s important first to ask people out of respect to either change their ways to be loyal to the government or quit the government.

“What a reasonable and honourable person will do, if I am not loyal to somebody, I have no business working for that person. If you don’t think your loyalty is to the government, please be a human being and resign,” he said.

The governor said he was aware of the gang up against him during the governorship election, noting that although he tried to tolerate the glaring betrayal during the election and post-election crises, the situation still persisted.

“We have done the best to look the other side and to look away during the difficult time of the election and election crises.  I want to tell you without any ambiguity that we will not entertain disloyalty to this government.  People that were found to have their loyalty somewhere else will not work with this government,” he warned.

He also warned that his administration would no longer tolerate acrimony between different levels and cadre of political appointees, while urging them to work together in interest of the state and its people.

According to him, the purpose of the meeting was to bring all appointees on the same page and to knit as one family for the purpose of attaining the goals and objectives of the administration. He cautioned appointees against utterances regarding the ongoing case before the Supreme Court, while urging them to allow his lawyers to handle the situation.
