The Middle-Belt United Assembly (MBUA) has condemned the call for the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, describing those behind the plot as desperate politicians.

In a statement issued by the group’s national president, Comrade Moses Aji, after its emergency meeting held in Kaduna at the weekend, the group said Akume has never been indicted by any court or any anti-corruption agency.

The group while describing SGF Akume as a humble, dedicated, loyal and focus technocrat commended Akume for serving the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu diligently.

MBUA warned politicians who want to bring Akume down to have a rethink as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is comfortable working with the former Benue State governor as SGF.

The statement said the denial of the SGF Akume’s suspension calls by the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere and other northern groups was commendable.” At the moment, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is comfortable working with Akume as SGF. Based on media reports, SGF Akume has not committed any offence to warrant his suspension,” MBUA noted.
