The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has announced support for the member-elect for Aba North state constituency, Destiny Nwagwu, as the next speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.

COSEYL stated this yesterday in a statement by the president general, Goodluck Ibem, which was made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend in Umuahia.

COSEYL explained that it arrived at the decision after painstakingly profiling the 24 members-elect of the House for the seat to ensure the emergence of the best.

“The House will require a speaker with proven integrity, commitment to serve selflessly, and understand the trajectory of the incoming Labour Party administration,” the statement quoted COSEYL as having said.

“COYSEL said during the profiling, the people of the state expressed strong opinion that Nwagwu will work in tandem with the transformational agenda of the governor-elect, Alex Otti by making quality laws for the state.

“As a group that has the interest of the people at heart and desires for positive and proactive change in the state, we subjected the names of the members-elect to public scrutiny and Nwagwu’s name was on top.”

“We believe that the governor-elect, who is a democrat, will consider the wish of the people by supporting a candidate of their choice whom they strongly believe will deliver according to their wish.”

The statement added that COYSEL firmly believes that he will lead the 8th Assembly of the state to greater performance and good working relationship with both the executive and the judiciary to the benefit of the people.
