A group, Restoration of Stolen Mandate Assembly (ROSMA), has urged the Inspector-General of Police, the Chairman, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) and other relevant security organisations to carry out immediate and wholistic investigations into the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
In a communique issued yesterday by its director-general, Engr Daniel Gambo, the group lamented that the election has caused Nigeria a monumental local and international embarrassment and contempt.
The group called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack the INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu for gross misconduct, abuse of office and lack of competence and integrity and to appoint a competent Nigerian to replace him to conduct the remaining elections.
It also warned INEC to stop further jeopardising the future and destiny of Nigerians by continuing to perpetuate illegality in its conduct of elections.
“INEC for once should forthwith cooperate with the petitioners and continue to provide and or allow access to the materials requested for by petitioners.
“We call on the judiciary especially the justices of the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria to uphold their oaths of office and be independent and impartial in the discharge of their judicial duties and where the petitioners prove their petitions, toe the paths of the courts in Kenya in 2017 and in Malawi in 2020 to overturn the flawed elections,” the communique read.
