The Kaduna Youth For Good Governance (KYGG) has again appealed to the National Assembly to reconsider its decision and confirm Malam Nasir El-rufai as a minister.
Chairman of KYGG, Comrade Aliyu Modibbo who made the call in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna, said El-rufai should be confirmed due to the confidence the generality of people have on him.
The organisation further urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene by taking into consideration the background of El-rufai on the promotion of democracy and the role he played in his emergence as president.
Modibbo stated that El-rufai has a proven track record of promoting unity through fostering an inclusive society and bringing together diverse communities for the greater good of Kaduna State.
“KYGG wishes to register our displeasure and sadness over the recent developments at the National Assembly on the screening of ministerial nominees.
“We in the KYGG are left in total disbelief over the turn of events where his name was withheld under the excuse that it was awaiting security clearance,” he said.
According to him, el-Rufai’s name along with all others couldn’t have reached the red chamber without formally passing through the rigorous screening of all security mechanisms.
He stated that the organisation was thrown into confusion and dilemma on the reasons that prompted the unexpected development, where his name was withheld.
He said the narrow and unsubstantiated views including claims of empowering Fulani with arms to destroy southern Kaduna which could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt
were mere allegations perpetrated by a few groups who were embittered politically.
