The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has congratulated the State’s governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his electoral victory.
The Speaker, a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, sent his good wishes to Okpebholo at the resumption of plenary by the House on Wednesday.
Agbebaku said the governor-elect was for Edo people and not for the All Progressives Congress (APC) alone and prayed that sycophants do not mislead him.
He said, “I congratulate the governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo on his victory at the just-concluded governorship election in the state.
“The governor-elect was for Edo people and not for the All Progressives Congress alone and I pray that sycophants do not mislead him.”
Meanwhile, the leadership of the PDP in the state was yet to congratulate Okpebholo, insisting that the election results were manipulated in favour of the governor-elect.
Meanwhile, the House of Assembly has announced the recall of the two remaining members on suspension, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, after five months.
The House had on May 6 suspended Donald Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Adeh Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I) and Bright Iyamu (Orhiomwon South) over alleged plot to impeach the speaker and other principal officers.
But Bright Iyamu was recalled in June, having been found remorseful according to the speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.
At resumption of plenary in Benin City on Wednesday, the Speaker said that the House had agreed that the two remaining lawmakers on suspension be recalled.
