Gunmen Abduct 10-Year-Old Yobe Boy, Demand Ransom

Suspected kidnappers have abducted a 10-year-old boy after invading his family’s residence in Tarmuwa local government area of Yobe State. They demanded an undisclosed amount as ransom for his release.

The incident occurred at 5:20 p.m. on July 25 in Andarashi village, according to security sources.

The victim, identified as Abdullahi Isa, was reportedly abducted when four armed men stormed the residence of Bukar Umar.

The attackers, who were said to be armed with bows and arrows, cutlasses and sticks, allegedly forced the boy away before fleeing to an unknown destination.

The abductors later contacted the victim’s family through telephone and demanded ransom for his release.

Following the incident, police operatives were deployed to the area, while the Officer-in-Charge of the State Investigation Department (SID) was directed to commence technical tracking of the telephone number allegedly used by the kidnappers.

A security source said efforts were ongoing by security operatives to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said he was not aware of the incident but promised to make inquiries and get back.

However, the command had yet to issue an official statement or confirmation on the incident at the time of filing this report.
